Babushka came about while Helene Elisabeth was living in Kirghizstan. Elsa is thirty, lives in Paris and is a famous jounalist for her family’s magazine and has always led a charmed life. Upon her grandfather’s death, Elsa is surprised to learn that he had planned for her to write an article on Kirghizstan.
Evguenia is a babushka from Russia, who was deported from central asia during the dekoulakisation. She is living in miserable conditions in Bishkek and her days go by without surprise until she hears about a French journalist who is interested in talking to her.
